DOLLARS FOR SCHOLARS
Lake
Zurich Lions Club Scholarships |
| The Lake Zurich Lions Club will be awarding
three academic scholarships each year. The Lake Zurich Lions
Scholarships are available for graduating high school seniors who live
within the Lake Zurich Unit District 95 School District boundaries and
meet criteria determined by the Lake Zurich Lions Scholarship Committee.
Interested students should contact the Counseling Department at their
school for an application or contact:

Recent examples of the Lion's
endeavors include the following:
Kids Kingdom in Paulus Park was erected with contributions of money and
time form local sources. The Lions Club was the single largest contributor,
donating $3,000 for the gateway to the play area. Equally
important, our members dedicated hundreds of hours of labor to build it.
Several pieces of reading equipment are available at the Ela Area Public
Library to help people with macular degeneration and other sight impairments
to read. They all have been donated to the Library by the Lake Zurich
Lions Club.
The Lake Zurich Lions maintain a warehouse behind the Ela Township Hall.
The warehouse is the central storage facility for wheelchairs, crutches,
canes, scooters and other equipment that is loaned to citizens who need it.
In 1999 the Lions found out about a local citizen who was forced to live on
disability because of blindness in both eyes. We funded a portion of an
operation, and coordinated the efforts of others who could help. Because
of the operation, she has returned to work and can now support her family.
We also fund other initiatives, including the training of leader dogs
for the blind, forgotten children, havens for abused women and children, local
food panties, and more
Whether or not you choose to
become a member of the Lions Club, we encourage you to volunteer to help us
put on the Alpine Festival. A few hours of your time helps provide the
resources for philanthropic efforts throughout the year, in our community.
